Tips for Downsizing

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers, Warehouse Space

Whether or not to downsize is a major, emotional decision.  Some people downsize when their children move out of the home.  Others may wish to have a more manageable mortgage or rent payment.  Whatever your reason, there are ways to help make the downsizing process easier.

3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company that has handled thousands of local and long-distance moves.  After more than three decades in business, we’ve seen it all!  And, we’ve handled everything from simple moves to large-scale ones that require specialized skills such as piano moving. When it comes to downsizing, the biggest issue our movers and packers run into is having more to move than the new space allows. Let’s discuss some strategies to help you prepare for downsizing.

The first thing you will want to do is declutter. Many people consider this the toughest of all tasks.  If you are going to downsize, you will need to get rid of things!  And, you will need to do so before the movers and packers arrive.

  • Start with making a list of everything you must keep.
  • Make a list of items you would like to keep.
  • Make a list of things that you do not need to keep.
  • Discuss your lists with family and friends. Are there any items they would like to take off your hands?
  • Consider donating the items you do not need to charity or selling them online or at a garage sale.

If you still find you have too many items for your new place, then go back through your lists and see what else you may be able to get rid of or consolidate.  If you are still at an impasse, you can always have our movers and packers take some of the items to storage.

Part two of our article will discuss more ways to help prepare for downsizing.

Do you need a full service moving company either now or in the future?  If so, our movers and packers are ready to help.  3 Guys Moving is a packing and moving company dedicated to ensuring our customers are satisfied.  Our long-distance and local movers take pride in what they do and they do it well.  And, because we are a moving and storage company, we can store your items in our secure, climate-controlled warehouse during your interim move. How to Make the Unpacking Process Run Smooth

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

As a packing and moving company that has been in business for more than three decades, we’ve learned a few things along the way. Most local movers are only concerned about the moment. At 3 Guys Moving, we want to help ensure your move is an all-around positive experience. We are continuing our series on how to make the unpacking process run smooth.  Our previous article covered the importance of being organized while packing, keeping essential items with you and/or within reach, and having a designated space in each room for the movers and packers to stack boxes. Below are three more strategies to consider.

SET-UP ESSENTIAL FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES

Once the movers and packers leave, consider setting up all essential furniture and appliances.  Place sheets on the beds and prepare them for the night.  Unpack kitchen items you may need over the next few days.  If you will need to work from home, set up your desk and computer.  Having items you need ready to use makes the rest of the unpacking process much easier.

ASSIGN TASKS

Assign tasks to family members according to their capabilities.  If Laura is great with electronics, have her connect the television and computers.  If Bill has a knack for organizing, have him determine how to best utilize cabinet space in the kitchen and bathrooms.

TACKLE ONE ROOM AT A TIME

Finally, it is important to remember that unpacking everything can take days or even weeks. Tackle it in stages and strive to work on completing one room before moving on to the next.  With a coordinated effort, you will be unpacked and able to enjoy your home in no time.

3 Guys Moving is a premier full service moving company located in Tampa, Florida.  As a local and nationwide moving and storage company, we are equipped to handle any size move.  Our long-distance and local movers have the experience and dedication to get the job done right!  Whether you need movers and packers just for the day or are making an interim move and need to keep your belongings in a secure, air-conditioned storage space, we can help. Give us a call to learn more today!

Preparing Your Pet(s) for a Move

Preparing Your Pet(s) for a Move

in Local Moves, Moving & Storage, Warehouse Space

As a moving and storage company that has been in business for decades, we understand the stress everyday people face during the process of moving.  Now, take that stress and double it for your pet(s). While you cannot postpone your move for your pet(s), there are some strategies you can use to help ease their anxiety.  Let’s take a look.

TRY TO PACK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ALL AT ONCE

Packing is an activity that causes anxiety in many animals. If you are packing yourself, try to pack as much as you can all at once.  Packing and moving boxes over the course of days and/or weeks can significantly elevate stress levels in your pet(s).

CONSIDER SENDING YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER TO A FRIEND’S HOUSE OR SPA FOR THE DAY

Movers and packers are often a source of stress for pets.  Consider having a friend watch your pet(s) or perhaps send them to the local pet spa on the day your full service moving company is scheduled to arrive.

GIVE THEM EXTRA ATTENTION!

Your pet(s) will get more and more anxious, especially when the movers and packers arrive. It is important to reinforce to your pet(s) that you love them and that they are not going to be left behind. Be sure to give your pet(s) extra love and attention before, during, and after your move.  A few extra treats won’t hurt, either!

At 3 Guys Moving, our movers and packers care about everyone in your family, including your furry pets!  We understand that the packing and moving process can cause great anxiety for any pet.  If you do your best to ease them into what is happening, they are less likely to be stressed.

Are you seeking a full service moving company to handle your upcoming move?  If so, we can help. As a moving and storage company, we have packers, movers and a 23,000 square foot warehouse to help meet all of your moving and storage needs.  Not all moving companies are equal.  Give us a call to experience the 3 Guys Moving difference today!

How to Identify an Honest Moving Company

How to Identify an Honest Moving Company

in Local Moves, Moving & Storage, Warehouse Space

Sadly, our industry is flooded with dishonest moving companies. This often makes it difficult for consumers to find reputable local movers. Below are some ways to help you determine if the full service moving company you are planning to hire is running a reputable and honest operation.

LICENSED AND INSURED

You always want to hire a full service moving company that is licensed and insured. Fly-by-night moving companies that are not licensed and insured take advantage of people every day. A licensed and insured moving and storage company has taken the time to undergo the expense of acquiring the required licenses and insurance designed to protect the consumer.

REFERENCES AVAILABLE

A reputable full service moving company will be happy to provide you with references upon request.

HAVE AN ACTUAL PHYSICAL LOCATION

It is a best practice to hire a full service moving company that has an actual physical location.  This can be an office, warehouse, storage building or some other physical address that is not a post office box.  Moving companies with no physical address are a definite red flag.

At 3 Guys Moving, we are proud to be able to say that our owner, Mark O’Laker, has been a trusted industry professional for more than 30 years.  He leads a team of experienced movers and packers who enjoy what they do and treat our customers right! Don’t trust just any packing and moving company with your next move.  We can help and stand ready to serve you.  Give us a call today!

Movers and Packers: The Packing Process

Movers and Packers: The Packing Process

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

(part two)

We are continuing our series on packing.  As a full service moving company, we are often asked about packing.  Not only is this a service we offer, but we find that more and more of our customers choose to eliminate the stress of packing by having our movers and packers handle it for them. Our previous article discussed some ways to help you prepare for the arrival of your movers and packers.  This article will address what happens during the packing process itself.

WHEN OUR MOVERS AND PACKERS ARRIVE

When our movers and packers enter your home, the first item on their agenda is to conduct a walk through with you.  This is the time for you to show them what items to pack and what stays behind. Your full service movers will then bring packing material into your home and begin the packing process, going room to room, until everything is packed.  They will mark each box with the name of the room from which the contents were packed (i.e. kitchen, master bedroom).

WILL ALL OF THE BOXES BE FULL?

Our movers and packers make every effort to completely fill each box.  This is done primarily to help prevent items from being damaged. In some cases, items from two rooms may end up in the same box to ensure capacity is reached.

FINAL WALK THROUGH

Once complete, our movers and packers will ask you to take one final walk through to ensure nothing was missed.  It is important to check everything, including drawers, closets and even inside the washer, dryer and dishwasher.

If you have an upcoming move, 3 Guys Moving is a premier packing and moving company equipped to handle all of your needs.  Our full service movers are experienced and take extreme care when handling your belongings. Whether you are looking for long distance or local movers, we can help. Give us a call today!

Tips to Make Unpacking Easier

Tips to Make Unpacking Easier

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage, Piano Movers

(part one)

As a premier moving and storage company, 3 Guys Moving is pleased to offer tips and advice to help ease the stress of moving. Our next series of articles will provide a series of tips on how to make the unpacking process easier. Let’s take a look:

BE ORGANIZED WHEN PACKING

Whether you are packing yourself or hiring movers and packers to do it for you, it is extremely important to be organized when packing. The more organized you are now, the easier it will be later. Clearly mark each box with its contents and designated room. Remove or set aside items you do not wish to take with you before the full service movers arrive.

TAKE ESSENTIAL ITEMS WITH YOU

Consider taking essential items such as medications, personal items, documents, cleaning products, etc. with you vs. having the movers and packers handle them. This ensures they are readily accessible when you arrive at your new home.

DESIGNATE AN AREA IN EACH ROOM FOR BOXES

In addition to planning placement of furniture, you should also set aside space for your full service movers to stack the boxes that belong in each room. Having the movers and packers set boxes in their respective rooms vs. in one central area of the house makes it much easier when you unpack.

If you are planning an upcoming move, we can help. No job is too big or small for our full service movers. In fact, we are one of the area’s most trusted piano movers and have extensive experience moving fragile and sensitive items. 3 Guys Moving is a full service moving and storage company with local movers, long distance movers and storage facilities designed to handle any type of move. Moving During COVID-19

Moving During COVID-19

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

If you are planning to move during the COVID-19 pandemic, you will still be able to hire a full service moving company to handle your move. Movers and packers are considered essential workers.  Let’s take a look at some ways you can reduce your risk of exposure during your move.

MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

You should continue to maintain social distancing during the moving process.  Our movers and packers will make every effort to maintain their distance as they handle and move your items.  Our full service movers are experienced and move quickly, so for best results, try to keep family members and pets from standing in an area where they either may not be seen or could become an obstacle.

WASH HANDS FREQUENTLY AND HAVE HAND SANITIZER HANDY

Be sure to wash your hands frequently and have a bottle of hand sanitizer handy. This is for your safety and for the safety of our movers and packers.

CLEAN, CLEAN CLEAN!

It is a good practice to schedule your local movers to bring your furniture and belongings to your new home on a day after it has been thoroughly sanitized and cleaned.  This helps ensure all areas are able to be reached.  Once the movers and packers bring in your furniture and boxes, some areas may be difficult to access.

3 Guys Moving is a moving and storage company that adheres to local COVID-19 mandates and CDC guidelines.  Our full service movers are taking extra precautions to keep our customers safe during this time.  Additionally, we have instructed our movers and packers to stay home if they feel sick. If you are facing a move during COVID-19, our local movers and long distance movers can help. Give us a call today.

Challenges to Be Aware of As You Plan Your Move

Challenges to Be Aware of As You Plan Your Move

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

(part two)

We are continuing our series on challenges homeowners face when moving.  Our previous article covered large or bulky furniture, having more items to move than expected and weather. This article covers three more potential obstacles to be aware of when planning your move.

NEW HOME NOT READY

If you close on your current home before your new home is ready to move in to, you may be faced with an interim move.  If this happens, don’t fret.  3 Guys Moving is a trusted moving and storage company that can help you navigate this process.  We also have additional information and articles on our website about planning an interim move.

TIME CONSTRAINTS

While it may seem like you have plenty of time before your move, time does tend to fly.  It is a best practice to set a schedule for your move and stick to it.  One of our previous articles covered the importance of getting organized before the movers and packers arrive. Consider incorporating this into your schedule. It is also a good practice to develop a checklist for your move. Once you have a target date for your move, call a full service moving company such as 3 Guys Moving to schedule your movers and packers.

UNRELIABLE FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILY

If you are planning a do-it-yourself (DIY) move, you will likely call upon your family and friends for assistance. This can be a risky move if any of them back out last minute.  As a full service moving company, our movers and packers often come to the “rescue” and take over when a DIY move does not go as planned.

3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company dedicated to providing excellent service to our valued customers.  Our movers and packers treat your belongings with care and work hard to ease your mind during this stressful time.  Whether you are in need of local movers or are planning a long distance move, we can help.   And, because we are a moving and storage company, we can even securely store your belongings in our 23,000 square foot climate controlled facility. Give your friends at 3 Guys Moving a call today!

Obstacles Homeowners Face When Moving

Obstacles Homeowners Face When Moving

(part one)

As a trusted moving and storage company, we feel it is our duty to provide customers and potential customers with resources and information to help ease the stress of the moving process. After being in business for more than three decades, we have seen it all!  Unlike many fly-by-night moving companies, we treat our customers like family and pride ourselves on repeat customers who keep coming back and referring friends who either need local movers or are seeking assistance with a long distance move.

Our next series of articles will cover some of the most common obstacles homeowners face when moving. Let’s take a look:

LARGE OR BULKY FURNITURE

Large or bulky furniture can cause challenges on both sides of the move. The good news is that our movers and packers have a lot of experience with this and will evaluate what needs to be done to safely move these items. Speaking of large and bulky, did you know that piano moving is one of our specialties?  In fact, 3 Guys Moving is one of the area’s preferred piano movers.

MORE ITEMS TO MOVE THAN EXPECTED

While it may at first seem like you do not have a lot of stuff to pack, once you begin to pull items out of closets you may find that you have much more than expected. No job is too large for our full service movers to handle. However, if you wish to save some time and money, consider either donating or throwing away items you no longer wish to keep before your movers and packers arrive.

WEATHER

Weather can put a damper on any parade.  However, there is no need to fret.  Take a deep breath and trust that your movers and packers will do everything possible to keep your belongings and home free from damage.  If rain is expected, consider covering the entryway floors with moving blankets.  If it’s going to be extremely hot, make sure you have enough water on hand to stay hydrated.

Our next article will cover more challenges to be aware of as you plan your move.

3 Guys Moving is a full service moving and storage company with more than three decades of experience.  Both our local movers and long distance movers take pride in what they do and treat your belongings like their own. Since we are a moving and storage company, we have the facilities to store your items if needed.  Don’t trust fly-by-night moving companies that are here today and gone tomorrow.  We invite you to experience the 3 Guys Moving difference. Tips to Help Ease the Stress of Moving

in Local Moves, Long Distance Moves, Moving & Storage

Part One

Moving from one place to another is often time consuming and stressful.  The first question people often ask themselves is whether or not they should consider moving truck rental and move themselves, or, hire a full service moving company to handle the logistics for them.  The decision is up to you, but remember, time is money.  3 Guys Moving is a reliable, full service moving company with experienced movers and packers who can help ease the burden of moving.  Whether you are handling it yourself, or hiring a professional moving and packing company, here are some tips to help make your move less stressful.

GET ORGANIZED

Getting organized can prevent much stress.  Consider taking an inventory of all of the items you plan to take with you. Make a list of all your belongings and categorize items (i.e. kitchen, Molly’s room, etc.). Then, plan a garage sale and/or trip to a donation center to get rid of items you do not wish to take with you. Doing this will make it easier, especially when the movers and packers arrive.

START PACKING EARLY

Time flies so the earlier you start packing the less stressed you will be later.  Even if you plan to hire a packing and moving company, there will likely be some items you wish to keep with you. Start by packing the items you plan to move yourself. Then, make sure you have everything else ready for when the movers and packers arrive.

USE QUALITY MOVING SUPPLIES

If you hire a packing and moving company, they will have plenty of quality moving supplies on hand when they arrive to pack your belongings. However, if you plan to handle the packing yourself, we suggest purchasing quality moving supplies such as sturdy boxes, strapping tape, bubble wrap, packing wrap, etc.  Our professionals carefully and strategically place items in our moving trucks all the time. Breakage, when it occurs, is usually a result of customers not properly packing boxes and other items for transport.

Our next article will cover three more tips to help ease the stress of moving. 3 Guys Moving is a full service moving company based in the Greater Tampa Bay area.  Our movers and packers handle all types of local and long distance moves.  When hiring a packing and moving company, experience matters.  Our team of experts can ease your mind and help you achieve a stress-free move.
